📋 Trial Report  ·  May – June 2026

30 Days.
Two Countries.
One Platform.

We asked two real drilling operations to run XPLORIX live on their active projects for 30 days. No test environment. No synthetic data. Real rigs, real teams, real drilling. Here is what happened.

The Trial

No test environment. No placeholder data. Live operations from day one.

Building software for the drilling industry is easy. Building software that drilling teams actually use — on site, on shift, in the middle of a project — is a different challenge entirely. The only way to know whether you have done the second thing is to test it where it matters: in the field, with real operations, under real conditions.

That is why, in May 2026, we partnered with two organisations to run a live 30-day trial of the XPLORIX platform across their active exploration drilling projects. Not a controlled pilot. Not a sandbox demonstration. A live deployment on projects that were already underway, with supervisors who had their own way of doing things and no particular obligation to make our software look good.

Kartikay Exploration & Mining Services Pvt. Ltd., based in Nagpur, is a well-established exploration drilling contractor with an active fleet deployed across multiple CMPDI and MECL coal block projects in central India. KANZ AL-MAADEN Contracting Company operates in Saudi Arabia, bringing an international exploration context to the trial. Between them, the two organisations represented a substantial volume of live drilling activity — enough to stress-test every module of the platform under genuine operational load.

Our Approach

If the platform couldn’t handle real operations from day one, we needed to know.

When we approached both organisations, we were deliberate about one thing: the trial would run on their live projects, with their actual supervisors, using their real operational workflows. We would not set up a parallel test environment. We would not pre-load the platform with tidy example data. Whatever state their operations were in on day one, that was the state the platform would have to handle.

This mattered because the most common failure mode in drilling software adoption is the gap between the demo and the reality. A demo runs on clean data, with cooperative hypothetical users, in a sequence designed to show the best features. A live trial exposes the edges — the supervisor who skips a field, the maintenance event that does not fit any category, the purchase order that arrives partially and then not at all.

If the platform could not handle the messiness of real operations from day one, we needed to know that before a customer did. This trial was designed to find every edge, not to avoid them.

Both Kartikay and KANZ AL-MAADEN agreed to this approach. Their teams were given full access to all modules — operations analytics, driller performance, consumables tracking, maintenance, safety, inventory and finance — from the moment the account was created. No feature gating. No guided onboarding sequence. The platform, as it is.

The People

Four individuals who gave us honest feedback, not polite feedback.

A platform trial is only as meaningful as the people who engage with it honestly. We were fortunate to work with four individuals who brought genuine operational experience and direct, unfiltered feedback throughout the 30 days.

Vikram Sharma and Dileep Kumar were the primary operational contacts at Kartikay — the people who understood the day-to-day reality of running an active multi-project fleet and who gave us the ground-level feedback that mattered most. Mohammed Ali Reyaz brought the perspective of a senior operations leader evaluating the platform’s fit for an international context. Piyush Mrig, as Director of Kartikay, gave us the organisational trust that made the whole trial possible.

What XPLORIX Had to Do

Real-time intelligence from data that was already being produced.

An exploration drilling operation is not a simple thing to manage. At any given time, a contractor like Kartikay is running multiple rigs across multiple project sites, each with its own geology, its own crew, its own equipment setup, and its own client requirements. Supervisors are logging shifts around the clock. Parts are being consumed, ordered and received. Maintenance events happen without warning. Safety compliance must be documented continuously.

Across all of this, the management team needs visibility — not at the end of the month, but in real time. Because the decisions that matter have to be made while drilling is still happening, not after it has stopped.

⚙️
How XPLORIX works: Supervisors log a shift the same way they always have — recording what happened, what was used, how the hole progressed. The moment they submit that log, it flows into the analytics dashboard, updates driller performance records, adjusts the consumables model, and flags anything that needs attention. The intelligence is generated automatically from work that was already being done. No extra data entry. No compilation. No wait.

Substantial drilling activity flowed through the platform across the 30-day period — hundreds of drill logs, maintenance records, part requests and purchase orders processed in real time. For the first time, the Kartikay management team could see their entire fleet’s performance in a single screen, updated live as supervisors submitted logs on site.

What We Learned

Three things 30 days of live data confirmed.

We are not sharing the specific operational numbers from the trial, out of respect for our partners’ commercial confidentiality. What we can share is what the experience taught us about the platform and about the industry.

Adoption happens faster than expected when the interface matches how field teams think. The supervisors at Kartikay’s project sites were logging live shifts within 48 hours of account creation — with no formal training. The mobile-first logging interface was designed to reflect the natural sequence of a drill shift, not a software developer’s idea of one. That decision paid off immediately.

The most valuable insights are the ones that were previously invisible. Both the Kartikay and KANZ AL-MAADEN teams found that the analytics surfaced patterns and aggregated figures they had never been able to see before — not because the data did not exist, but because it was scattered across sites, notebooks and messages with no way to connect it. The platform’s value was not in collecting new data. It was in connecting data that already existed.

Feedback from experienced operations teams makes the platform better. Several workflow improvements were made during the trial itself, based on direct input from Vikram Sharma and the Kartikay materials team. The way downtime reasons are logged, how partial purchase order receipts are handled, how maintenance events are submitted from mobile — all improved because people who actually work in drilling told us what was not working. That kind of feedback is not available in a demo environment.

In Their Words

What the teams said after 30 days.

"First week in and already this is showing us things our spreadsheets never could. The dashboard is clean, the data makes sense and the team picked it up fast. This is what we have been looking for."
Mohammed Ali Reyaz
General Manager — KANZ AL-MAADEN Contracting Company, KSA
"The downtime chart alone changed our Monday review meetings. We could see exactly which rigs had the most idle time and why — something we had never been able to do before. It changed the questions we were asking."
Vikram Sharma
Head of Department, Operations — Kartikay Exploration & Mining Services Pvt. Ltd.
"I did not expect a software trial to impress me this quickly. Everything from rig performance to inventory in one place, and it actually works the way field teams think. Good start."
Dileep Kumar
Geologist Manager — Kartikay Exploration & Mining Services Pvt. Ltd.
The Invitation

See what your fleet’s data is telling you — that you are not hearing.

The 30-day trial with Kartikay and KANZ AL-MAADEN confirmed what we believed when we built XPLORIX: that drilling operations teams are sitting on data they cannot see, and that making it visible — without adding work to the people in the field — changes how they manage their operations.

We offer the same trial to any drilling contractor who wants to find out what their fleet’s data is actually telling them. 15 days, all modules unlocked, no credit card, no IT setup. Your supervisors log shifts the way they always have. The platform does the rest.

If you manage drilling operations and you are still compiling your performance data at the end of the month, we think you will find the first week interesting.
